8 months without updating this news feed. I used to update it weekly, then bi weekly, then monthly, then bi monthly and well then not at all. Figured i would wait until i actually have something to talk about. And that patreon/socials would be good enough to share my madness through arts.

Well now i do have something to talk about. Drowtales is still the project people talk to me about, even 2 years after Hel began. Meanwhile my mind have been wandering about a story for it, after all its normal for any creative people to have their mind wandering about characters and stories during long hours of work, even if it is about other projects. I do have a story, i do have a cast and like Eld i can begin it and end it early if need be.

Its certainly not of the same scope as the old story, especially with how much work Hel is. I don’t think i could handle big projects at the same time. It is challenging enough to just do one. For the first season at least the cast is very small, taking place in a region thats familliar to the readers, following events of the past while touching the topic of cities that were present in the story but were only briefly mentioned.

Touching the topic of transhumanism. The aftermath of Snadhya’s messing with the world and what is possible. Some older characters of mine that i have interest in were adapted for this. While it would be easy to take the cast of DT and make them older, it doesn’t hold as much interest to me. I’d rather explore things with a new cast and leave this completed story as it is, complete.

I had to go back to the older art style. More manga than my current work. Or at least try to. Hel is a darker story where i could go heavy on the ink. A grim story of a broken people in a broken world. But i’m told that it can be too heavy , sucking the fun out of things. I get it , our world is dire enough of late and people want more fun. So I’m trying to bring back a bit more of the silly from before.

Though that won’t change what i like in stories, so expect quite a bit of stabbing. As i’ve lost faith in webtoon, this will be for our web site only, aiming at a mature audience, uncensored and of course this time my animation attempts are not blocked by webtoon, nor am i restrained by the long vertical format.

As to when it’ll be release, i don’t know. I will begin drawing the first episode tomorrow. And it’ll be updated on an irregular basis. See if people like it, if it resonate with people. If it does, then it’ll continue as i’ve 3 seasons in mind at the moment. If not then at least we’ll have revisited the old for a bit of nostalgia.

Check out the web site, follow on discord or socials. I should be able to put something up relatively soon. With the web site being the biggest challenge in putting the work up as we had the old drowtales site mothballed into a static html frontend. I might just install a default webcomic platform, and have a button to read the old story if need be.

Oh and thanks to the patreon supporters who stuck around for so long, even if it feel like half of them are not reading Hel, they kept supporting DT all this time and some nudging me with commissions about the old characters. So, i blame all of you for this eventual new story.
Hope you like Beldrobbaen, because i feel we all need more dark haired drow ladies.
